Temperature Switches

Temperature switches are instruments intended for safe monitoring of process temperature with discrete switching outputs, often combined with an analog output for trending or control integration. They consolidate sensing, evaluation, and output behavior into a compact measuring point suited for modern, space-efficient installations.

Configuration options commonly include one or two switch points, or a combination of a switch output plus a standardized analog signal. A broad selection of process connections supports deployment across different piping standards and hygienic or industrial interfaces, enabling consistent alarming and interlocking strategies across diverse units.

Benefits include local, deterministic alarm behavior for protection functions (e.g., high/low temperature), reduced dependence on host-system programming for basic safeguards, and streamlined commissioning through integrated setup tools. Fast-response sensor designs can improve the effectiveness of protection actions when thermal excursions develop quickly.

Temperature switches are generally built around established sensing principles such as RTDs and thermocouples. RTDs are valued for accuracy and long-term stability over typical industrial temperature ranges, while thermocouples enable robust measurement across wider and higher temperature domains, supporting broad application coverage.

Typical applications include equipment protection, utility monitoring, skid-level interlocks, and hygienic temperature supervision where a local switch action is required alongside signal transmission. Selection is usually driven by required switch logic, output configuration (switch-only vs. switch + analog), response-time needs, process connection standard, and whether display/transmitter features are required at the point of measurement.
