Ultrasonic Flowmeters
Versatile and economical flow measurement of gases and liquids up to a nominal diameter DN 4000.
Ultrasonic Flowmeters
Endress+Hauser’s ultrasonic flowmeters use transit‑time acoustics to measure liquid and gas flow without pressure loss or moving parts. The portfolio spans clamp‑on and inline meters and covers pipe sizes up to DN 4000, enabling retrofits and new builds. Because the method is independent of conductivity, pressure, and viscosity, it suits demineralized water, hydrocarbons, and many process gases; inline sensors offer traceable, calibrated accuracy.
For non‑invasive liquid measurement, Proline Prosonic Flow W 400 and P 500 clamp to the pipe so installation can occur without shutdown. FlowDC flow‑disturbance compensation preserves accuracy with as little as 2×DN straight run, and both provide an integrated web server for fast setup plus Heartbeat Technology for on‑demand verification and diagnostics. W 400 and P 500 handle corrosive, abrasive, or toxic media across metal, plastic, and composite piping, with diameters to DN 4000 and medium temperatures to ~170 °C. Typical uses include water/wastewater networks, cooling water, and chemicals/hydrocarbons.
When a wetted, calibrated sensor is preferred, Prosonic Flow E 100 is an economical inline option with integrated temperature measurement. Suited to demineralized‑water duties such as boiler condensate return, it offers accuracy to ±0.5 % of rate, high turndown, and the same built‑in web server and Heartbeat verification to extend recalibration intervals. Use inline devices wherever documented accuracy is mandatory and piping conditions limit straight runs.
For gases, Prosonic Flow G300/500 is a robust multipath meter for fluctuating conditions, including wet gas and changing composition. It directly measures flow, pressure, and temperature and computes gas properties (density, calorific value, and Wobbe index) while maintaining zero pressure loss. The platform is suitable for natural‑gas service with hydrogen blends (≈ up to 30 % H₂) and includes Heartbeat for in‑situ verification and condition monitoring. Typical uses span process‑gas measurement, pipeline balance, and plant utilities.
For biogas and digester gas, Prosonic Flow B200 is the specialist. This loop‑powered inline meter measures wet gas reliably at low pressures and adds integrated, real‑time methane‑fraction determination via sound‑velocity and temperature, enabling continuous energy balancing and process optimization, without added pressure loss. Heartbeat diagnostics and verification are standard.
Beyond Prosonic Flow, Endress+Hauser also offers ultrasonic systems for specialized duties: FLOWSIC100 Flare‑XT for flare stacks and FLOWSIC500/550 for gas‑distribution custody transfer, complemented by the Flow‑X flow computer, providing a path from utility flows to fiscal and environmental measurements.
