Absolute and Gauge Pressure Measurement

Endress+Hauser’s absolute and gauge pressure portfolio pairs Cerabar pressure transmitters with Ceraphant pressure switches to monitor liquids, gases, and steam, and to perform hydrostatic level measurement where appropriate. Devices use silicon or dry ceramic cells, welded metal membranes, and optional diaphragm seals to fit duty and hygienic requirements.

New‑generation Cerabar PMC71B (dry ceramic) and PMP71B (metal membrane) add Heartbeat Technology for on‑line verification, guided proof testing, and health diagnostics. Secure Bluetooth via SmartBlue enables remote setup and maintenance, while ranges extend from low‑pressure/vacuum service up to 700 bar and 400 °C with diaphragm seals.

For compact points and skids, Cerabar PMC21 offers a robust, oil‑free ceramic cell in an IP68, abrasion‑resistant design; PMP23 brings a fully welded, hygienic metal diaphragm for food & beverage. Ceraphant switches, PTP31B for general utility and PTP33B for hygienic duty, combine local displays with IO‑Link for simple, low‑cost integration.

Benefits include fast commissioning via Quick Setup/HistoROM, broad Ex and SIL 2/3 options, and communication from 4–20 mA HART to PROFIBUS PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, and Ethernet‑APL variants. With ceramic or metal sensors and diaphragm seals, the portfolio covers extremes in pressure, temperature, and corrosion while bridging to IIoT.

Typical applications span process pressure and hydrostatic level in tanks and pipelines; CIP/SIP service in sanitary plants; high‑pressure utilities and steam lines; pump and filter protection; and overfill prevention. Selecting the sensor principle, ceramic for vacuum/abrasion, silicon or metal for high‑pressure/temperature, delivers stable, audit‑ready signals.
