TOC, COD & SAC Analyzers

Endress+Hauser’s TOC, COD & SAC analyzers quantify organic load from trace ppb to heavy-mg/L ranges for continuous compliance and process control. The portfolio spans high‑temperature TOC combustion (CA72TOC) for demanding industrial streams, low‑range TOC analyzers for ultrapure water (CA78/CA79), a colorimetric COD analyzer (Liquiline System CA80COD), and a reagent‑free optical SAC/nitrate sensor (Viomax CAS51D). At inlets, processes, and outlets, they reveal peaks early and document treatment performance.

CA72TOC uses thermic catalytic combustion to oxidize all carbon species and quantify TOC reliably even with high loads of salt, fat, or fibers. Wide measuring ranges (0.25–12,000 mg/L, extensible via pre‑dilution) cover influent, process, and effluent monitoring. A self‑cleaning slit filter, automatic backflush, heatable salt trap, and a two‑channel option support availability and cost‑effective coverage. Online data highlights product losses and enables immediate corrective action.

CA78 and CA79 target trace‑level TOC in ultrapure water. Both apply UV oxidation with differential‑conductivity detection to achieve 0.5–1,000 µg/L with ~50 s t90 response. CA78 serves power, semiconductor, and other UPW duties (with a 10 µS/cm option), while CA79 is optimized for life sciences/WFI and aligns with European/US Pharmacopeias and 21 CFR Part 11 workflows, including SST and audit‑ready reporting.

The Liquiline System CA80COD automates the dichromate method for COD, yielding values directly comparable to laboratory results. Configurations span 0–500/5,000 mg/L (with optional dilution) and offer self‑priming sampling, automatic calibration/cleaning, light‑barrier‑controlled dosing, and safety‑interlocked heated zones. Integration is straightforward via 4–20 mA and modern Ethernet/fieldbuses, and the analyzer can host up to four additional Memosens sensors; a simple Y‑strainer bypass eases retrofit.

Viomax CAS51D provides optical SAC or nitrate by UV absorption without reagents, enabling low‑maintenance, continuous trending at the inlet, in aeration/denitrification, and at the outlet. It can output equivalent sum parameters (CODeq, TOCeq, BODeq, DOCeq) for real‑time load indices and features a self‑cleaning design. A pragmatic pattern is to pair CAS51D for rapid trend control upstream with analyzer‑grade TOC/COD at compliance points, supported by sample conditioning where needed.
