Differential Pressure Flow Measurement

Endress+Hauser’s differential pressure (DP) flow portfolio combines proven primary elements, Deltatop orifice plates, Venturi tubes, flow nozzles, averaging Pitot, cones, and wedges with Deltabar differential pressure transmitters to turn pressure drop into reliable volumetric (and, with compensation, mass) flow. It suits liquids, gases, and steam and is engineered to ISO 5167.

Why DP? It offers robust measurement at high temperatures/pressures, consistent performance over many pipe sizes, and low installed cost when straight runs exist. Orifice plates are economical and versatile; Venturi/nozzles minimize permanent pressure loss at high speed; averaging Pitot scales well for very large lines. Complete metering runs, manifolds, condensate pots, and transmitters can be supplied as one package to simplify projects.

The portfolio spans plate variants (square‑edge, quarter‑circle, eccentric, segmental, and conical), ISA‑1932/long‑radius nozzles, classic Venturi, cone and wedge meters, and threaded/flanged/inline Pitot designs. Tapping styles and straight‑run rules per ISO 5167 are supported; meter runs are available. Paired with Deltabar transmitters, you get modern communications, HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS PA, and PROFINET over Ethernet‑APL, plus consistent diagnostics.

Typical applications include superheated steam and boiler feedwater, fuel and natural gas distribution, compressed air, flare/vent monitoring, and process liquids in chemical, power, and pulp & paper units. DP also serves slurries/viscous services where wedge or cone elements stay stable and very large ducts or stacks where Pitot solutions avoid excessive pressure loss. Result: traceable, well‑understood flow with long‑term maintainability.
