Cable Probes
RTD and TC thermometers with connection cable for various applications.
Cable Probes
Cable probes are compact temperature sensors—RTD or thermocouple—built with a fixed, flexible connection cable for high adaptability in tight or difficult installations. They are available with no process connection for simple insertion, or with standard and special process connections such as compression fittings, threads, weld-on pads, or bayonet locks.
Because the probe sheath is in direct contact with the process medium, cable probes can deliver responsive temperature measurement when installed correctly. Different sheath and cable material options support matching the probe construction to thermal, mechanical, and chemical requirements across varied services.
Their main value lies in mechanical flexibility and installation convenience. Bending capability and compact form factor make them a practical solution where a rigid stem sensor is difficult to route or where space constraints prevent traditional assemblies. They can also be deployed for surface temperature monitoring of vessels or reactors when paired with suitable mounting methods.
Additional benefits include cost-effective temperature coverage for a wide range of points, configurable insertion lengths, and robust construction with high ingress protection. Availability of hazardous-area approvals and multiple sensor configurations (single/dual) broadens applicability across common plant standards.
Typical applications include machinery and bearings, HVAC systems, storage temperature monitoring, laboratory and autoclave equipment, and high-pressure or cryogenic services where specialized construction is required. Selection is typically driven by sensor type (RTD vs. TC), required temperature range, process connection and insertion length, sheath/cable materials, and environmental protection requirements.
