TDLAS & QF Analyzers
Proven technology for concentration measurement in gas.
TDLAS & QF Analyzers
Endress+Hauser’s TDLAS & QF analyzers deliver on‑line, real-time concentration measurements in process gas streams for natural gas, LNG, refining, petrochemical, and emerging energy applications. TDLAS targets H₂O, H₂S and CO₂; quenched fluorescence (QF) covers O₂ from trace to percent levels, combining high selectivity with stability and low operating cost.
How it works: a tunable diode laser resolves narrow absorption lines in a flow‑through cell, isolating the target molecule. The optical design keeps critical components out of contact with the stream, enabling fast response, long‑term stability and avoiding periodic recalibration that plagues contact‑based methods.
For moisture, J22 is the flagship TDLAS analyzer for dehydration control, custody transfer, and blending; it adds Heartbeat Technology diagnostics and offers ranges roughly 50–6000 ppmv. SS500 provides an economical single‑channel H₂O solution for pipeline service. SS2100/SS2100i extend TDLAS to H₂O, H₂S and CO₂; the SS2100i is certified for Zone 1 environments for harsh service.
For hydrogen sulfide, JT33 applies differential TDLAS for rapid, continuous H₂S measurement with on‑site validation and tolerance to contamination, ideal around amine units, fuel/flare gas, and NGL lines. Typical ranges span low‑ppm to percent, supporting process control and gas‑quality compliance.
For oxygen, OXY5500 uses QF technology to deliver fast, stable O₂ readings from low‑ppm to percent and is unaffected by H₂S, CO₂ or moisture, well suited to natural gas, hydrogen, and CCUS service. TRANSIC100LP offers in‑situ TDLS O₂ for inerting/blanketing, while the TRANSIC Extractive system adds modular sample‑conditioning flexibility.
Integration and compliance features shorten engineering. Analyzers provide Modbus (RS‑485/TCP), 4–20 mA/relays, and an Ethernet web server for service access; hazardous‑area approvals include Class I, Div 1/2 and ATEX/IECEx Zone 1/2 as applicable. J22’s Heartbeat Technology supports standardized diagnostics and verification.
Operational impact is direct: real‑time gas purity enables prevention of hydrate formation and corrosion, protects catalysts, and keeps dryers, amine, and caustic wash units on‑spec. In hydrogen and CO₂ capture/utilization, optical analyzers provide robust measurements without cross‑interference, sustaining safety and product quality.
Typical applications include pipeline and storage quality checks, compressor‑station moisture, LNG feed/product verification, sour‑gas removal and fractionation, refinery hydrogen recycle, and petrochemical cracked‑gas dryers. For biomethane, combined H₂O/H₂S/CO₂/O₂ monitoring underpins grid‑injection specifications.
