Temperature Transmitters

Endress+Hauser iTEMP® temperature transmitters convert RTD and thermocouple signals into stable, standardized outputs and add intelligence for accuracy and diagnostics. The portfolio spans head‑mount, DIN‑rail, and field devices with 4–20 mA, HART, PROFIBUS PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, IO‑Link, and PROFINET over Ethernet‑APL, so designers can align protocol and topology to each loop.

Accuracy and signal quality are built in. Transmitter‑sensor matching reduces total loop error; isolation and monitoring curb noise/drift; and NAMUR NE 107 status turns diagnostics into DCS messages. For simple needs, iTEMP TMT31 covers 4–20 mA conversion; for advanced points, TMT82/TMT72 add precision and digital diagnostics.

Connectivity and digitalization are design choices. TMT72 (HART 7) offers optional integrated Bluetooth® for secure, local configuration via SmartBlue, ideal in hard‑to‑reach locations; the field‑mount TMT142B adds a rugged housing, backlit display, HART, and Bluetooth for fast setup. Ethernet‑APL arrives with iTEMP TMT86, bringing native PROFINET and an embedded web server; for cost‑effective digitization of RTD points, iTEMP TMT36 provides IO‑Link in a compact head‑mount.

Safety and availability are addressed end‑to‑end. TMT82 is SIL 2 (SC 3) capable and supports NAMUR NE 43 behavior on the analog output. Dual‑sensor functions, backup, average, differential, and drift monitoring, enable redundancy, detect wiring corrosion, and flag divergence early. TMT86 also monitors lead corrosion.

Mechanical integration is straightforward. Families support form B heads, DIN‑rail cabinets, or field housings (including Ex d). Push‑in terminals speed wiring; clip‑on TID10 display adds local indication. Ex approvals support global standardization.

For operations, head‑mounting shortens leads, improves noise immunity, and stabilizes loops; remote parameterization via Bluetooth or a web server reduces site time; and device/sensor diagnostics become actionable alarms. FLEX tiers (Fundamental/Lean/Extended) let you align features with risk and budget while keeping one platform.

Typical applications include reactor and column temperature control, heat exchanger monitoring, boilers and HRSGs, polymerization and dryers, hygienic CIP/SIP utilities, and general plant utilities. Across chemical, life sciences, power, water/wastewater, marine, and more, they deliver stable, traceable measurement over long life cycles.
