Conductivity Sensors & Transmitters
Endress+Hauser’s conductivity portfolio pairs rugged Memosens sensors, covering conductive (2‑electrode), 4‑electrode, and inductive/toroidal principles, with scalable Liquiline and Liquisys transmitters. This breadth lets you instrument everything from trace‑level pure water to highly concentrated acids, caustics, and brines, using hygienic or process connections as required. The Liquiline platform adds Heartbeat diagnostics/verification and modular I/O/fieldbuses, while Memosens 2.0 ensures moisture‑immune, digitally calibrated operation. Selection guidance is straightforward: conductive for low conductivities, 4‑electrode for wide ranges, and toroidal for high/dirty media.
2‑electrode (contacting) sensors address low to medium ranges and pure water. Memosens CLS15E targets trace/low conductivity, e.g., boiler feedwater and RO permeate, and supports resistivity reporting via Liquiline transmitters, simplifying SWAS deployments. Memosens CLS21E is the robust generalist for water applications with medium conductivities. For sanitary processes and life sciences, Memosens CLS16E adds high‑end hygienic design (FDA/USP Class VI) and precise temperature compensation for repeatable phase control and final rinse verification. All benefit from Memosens 2.0 for predictive maintenance and lab calibration workflows.
4‑electrode sensors extend dynamic range and reduce polarization, making them ideal when one probe must span clean‑in‑place (CIP) chemicals, product, and final rinse. Memosens CLS82E is a hygienic, compact 4‑electrode sensor designed for processes with widely varying conductivity; typical duties include phase separations, chromatography, fermentations, ultrafiltration, and CIP in small pipes. For aggressive or sticky media where non‑fouling is critical, or conductivity is very high, use inductive/toroidal designs: Indumax CLS50D (PFA/PEEK) for harsh chemical service and high temperature; Indumax CLS54D for hygienic/sterile applications in food, beverage, and pharma, including CIP return control and product/water transitions.
On the transmitter side, Liquiline CM442/CM444/CM448 accept 2/4/8 digital Memosens sensors in any mix (conductivity, pH/ORP, DO, disinfection, and more), auto‑recognize probes, and expose controller/math modules for dosing or derived variables (e.g., TDS/salinity). Connectivity spans HART, PROFIBUS, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP with an integrated web server for remote access; Heartbeat Technology underpins on‑demand verification and diagnostics. Rail‑mount variants (CM44xR) add cabinet‑friendly packaging for skid or panel builds.
For compact and loop‑powered points, Liquiline Compact CM82 plugs directly onto a Memosens sensor to create a 2‑wire measuring point with Bluetooth® commissioning, handy in space‑constrained or retrofit locations; a CM82+RIA46 bundle lets you power two head transmitters from a 4‑wire field meter. Liquiline CM14 is the cost‑efficient 4‑wire panel unit for standard water/wastewater panels. Where a rugged 2‑wire field transmitter is preferred, Liquiline M CM42 covers demanding environments (hygienic, Ex, SIL) and integrates over HART/PA/FF.
Portfolio benefits center on measurement integrity and lifecycle cost. Memosens’ inductive, non‑contact connector eliminates moisture ingress and stores calibration/sensor data for swap‑and‑go maintenance; Liquiline provides uniform commissioning, diagnostics, and spare‑part commonality across parameters. Factory‑measured, certified cell constants and available calibration standards help maintain traceability. For pharma waters, Liquiline implements USP <645> / EP limit functions using uncompensated conductivity with temperature tables, supporting WFI/HPW/PW compliance checks out of the box.
Applications span utilities and core process control. In power and microelectronics, CLS15E+Liquiline measure conductivity/resistivity in ultrapure water, RO/CEDI, and condensate, with alarm logic to protect assets. In food & beverage and life sciences, CLS82E or CLS16E support hygienic phase separation and CIP verification; CLS54D serves CIP return lines where toroidal immunity to coating and high caustic conductivity is valuable. In chemicals, Indumax CLS50D handles acids, bases, and brine strength control at elevated temperature. For water & wastewater, CLS21E with CM14/CM44x provides salinity/TDS trending, leak detection, blending control, and network monitoring, on skids or in distributed panels.
